Goodbye Cecile.

This weekend was a great culinary journey! A friend and I were at the supermarket when we spotted LIVE LOBSTER at only 5.99 a pound. We had both always wanted to try it out & are really big lobster fans. In fact the two of us went to the Lobster Festival in Long Beach this summer. Anyways, it might be a big morbid for some people but hey, you eat it. It was definitely a very interesting experience. I named my lobster Cecile, and she was gorgeous. It's also a lot less expensive than having lobster at a restaurant, and its not very much work (if you can stomach the whole thing). Just a little butter and lemon makes everything oh so scrumptious! I'll leave out the more morbid pictures, but Cecile turned a lovely red color afterwards and I have to say, it was very much worth it.

Homemade Sushi. Oh you know it.

that's right. sushi. look at these fat little babies.

Making sushi is a bit time-consuming but believe me, it is so. worth. it. I'm a BIG fan of sashimi but I have friends who can't even stomach the idea of eating raw fish. Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand how you can't love sushi/sashimi! But then again, I don't think I've ever met a type of food that I didn't like...

There are many markets that carry sushi grade fish (a lot of them are Japanese, Korean and Chinese) such as salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. These places also sell roe (fish eggs) & all sorts of yummy goodies, you just have to look out for it!

I actually found a how-to-video of making sushi at my local public library! But you can easily find youtube videos or other online tutorials. Come on, life's an adventure, you have to try it sometime!

Dumpling Adventures

I love collecting recipes. This includes cookbooks and pages and pages and pages of cooking recipes that I find online. I have one of just dumpling recipes. Its quite scrumptious looking and believe it or not making dumplings is actually really fun and easy to do! Two pictures are dumplings made from my grandmama's recipe which include fish paste, cooking rice wine, etc. but the picture of the actual cooked dumplings are vegetarian! Quite delicious and easy to make! Those have some glass noodles, egg, leeks, etc. in them and were delectable!

Nom Nom Nom

I've been pretty sick for the past two weeks (thank you H1N1 & pneumonia...) so I've pretty much been living off some form of noodles & soup. Last night I was ready for something new and delicious so I decided to make...PIZZA! I used just plain ol' marinara sauce with hot link sausage (it looks like pepperoni), mushrooms, tomatoes and onions (you can't see the last two, they're under the cheese). It was pretty good I must say. I'm curious to try a pesto chicken pizza next!
